Growth hormone (GH), also known as somatotropin, is a peptide hormone that stimulates growth, cell reproduction, and cell regeneration in humans and other animals. GH plays an important role in growth and development. GH participates in the process of sexual differentiation and maturation. It is related to reproduction and gonadal endocrine function, and also affects pregnancy and lactation.GH is a stress hormone that stimulates production of IGF-1 and raises the concentration of glucose and free fatty acids.[1][2]
